IRC-Internet Relay Chat
IRC was created in late August 1988 by Jarkko Oikarinen of Finland and replaced MUT, Multiuser Talk. IRC was designed for group communication using channels but may also be used as a private message or for data transferring and chat using the Direct Client-to-Client. IRC is an open protocol that uses TCP and optionally TLS and available for use on all operating systems. Users of IRC access IRC networks by connecting a client to a server. Most users are not required to log in with a user name and a password but do have a nickname. The channels that are used within IRC are the basic means of communication inside an established IRC session. Commands are a language used inside IRC and serve as statements to execute actions in IRC.
For Bryan Torosian of Southland Media I would recommend IRC for the company's use. Not only is IRC fairly easy to use but it is also easily accesable and also pretty much free of charge. IRC has ways to have private and confidential conversations as well as public and open conversations.
